I’m Amber Hendrix, your current 1st Vice Chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party for the last two years.

I am honored and grateful to run for reelection.

I believe in the power of coming together to create something more significant than the sum of our parts, and I have witnessed this firsthand within this great country.

When we foster a culture of belonging, ensuring that progressive and modern values continue to shape our communities and where every voice, culture, age demographic, and perspective is heard and valued—we unlock the true potential of a grassroots movement.

As your 1st Vice Chair, here’s my impact, the actual results we’ve achieved together, and what we’re still doing today:

Elected five new Democratic freshmen to the Utah House of Representatives.
Successfully re-elected our 60 incumbent Democratic Representatives and Senators.
Through growth, we’ve strengthened our Democratic community across Salt Lake County.
Since November, we haven’t slowed down; nearly every night of the week, House District events bring together our Democratic champions to keep the fight going. I’ve made it a priority to attend dozens of events every month.

My Background

I moved to Utah 36 years ago for college and have called it home since 1995. I grew up in California with a “Live and Let Live” mindset, which has shaped my values of inclusivity and respect for diverse perspectives.

My Journey

After earning two master’s degrees (in Educational Psychology and Mental Health Counseling), I settled in Midvale, Utah, where I’ve lived for over 15 years. A chance invitation to Caucus Night in 2007 sparked my passion for grassroots politics, and I’ve been actively involved ever since.

My Political Experience

I’ve served in leadership roles within the Salt Lake County Democratic Party for many years, and currently working with leaders across 27 House Districts has been incredibly rewarding and has deepened my commitment to serving our community.

My Family and Work

I’m a proud mom to two teenagers, Robbie and Gretta, who are active in their high school activities. Professionally, I work in management and customer service at my family’s business, Green Tea HP, and I’ve spent over five years teaching international students online. I’m also building a private counseling practice to support mental health in our community.

My Commitment

Relationships and advocacy are at the heart of everything I do. I’m dedicated to fighting for fairness, inclusivity, and opportunities for all, no matter the challenges.

Out in the Field 2023 - 2025

I’ve been working closely with House District Leadership Teams, Elected Officials, and the Utah Democratic Party’s Executive Committee to strengthen our Democratic community and to elect Democrats to office. We’ve engaged neighbors across Salt Lake County through grassroots efforts, building momentum and expanding our reach. I’m deeply grateful to the House District Officers who have been champions for more significant equity, fairness, and inclusivity in our Democratic efforts. This is how we build lasting change through elections and cultivating a community rooted in shared goals and authentic relationships.
